Just thought I would post since it looks like I haven't posted in quite awhile.

I actually have, it's just that most of the entries are on a custom friends filter. If you want to be added to that filter, comment here and I'll consider you ;)

If you're not added immediately, it may be that I've been busy or that I don't feel comfortable with you reading certain personal things. Don't take it personally, it's just for privacy and paranoia ;)

I started this post awhile ago and it's taken forever and a day to finish that meme because I kept getting interrupted. Plus, I ate lunch at like 12:30 and oddly enough I'm hungry again!

Does anyone know where I can find a torrent for America's Next Top Model (last night's episode, season 7)? Or, even better yet, a download link? I'm screening the comments so as not to get anyone in trouble :)

ETA: Found it on YouTube!

Thanks for the help!

PS: Not much else going on, just watching Gilmore Girls season 6 dvds I got yesterday :D

I am now 25 freaking years old! I'm a quarter of a century old, can't believe I made it this far. :)

I'll post more later on when I have received all of my presents *blush* hehe.

ETA: So I've had a pretty good day so far. Fairly low key as I like it. My friends came over yesterday and I had family and Brooke over tonight. My brother is coming over tomorrow. Brooke made me an amazing cake that looks like a duck lol! I love ducks for those of you who didn't know that, especially the rubber variety. Very cute.

My parents gave me a $50 gift card to Walmart, my aunt gave me a $40 gift card to Walmart as well, Brooke bought me the 2 disc version of Speed because yes, I like this movie. Tiana and her husband gave me the Deluxe edition of Scrabble along with a necklace/earrings set. I'll have to see what my brother gets me tomorrow, but I'm assuming it's another gift card, which is fine. Then I can go out and get VM season 2 and more :)

SLAVE TO SENSATION

Nalini Singh

Berkley / September 2006

Slave to Sensation

Welcome to a future where emotion is a crime and powers of the mind clash brutally against those of the heart.

Sascha Duncan is one of the Psy, a psychic race that has cut off its emotions in an effort to prevent murderous insanity. Those who feel are punished by having their brains wiped clean, their personalities and memories destroyed.

Lucas Hunter is a Changeling, a shapeshifter who craves sensation, lives for touch. When their separate worlds collide in the serial murders of Changeling women, Lucas and Sascha must remain bound to their identities…or sacrifice everything for a taste of darkest temptation.

Excerpt

I just thought this was a cool idea and I wouldn't mind winning a $200 gift certificate :) Thanks to [info]lepapillon for the info!

Vox
I have five Vox invites for anyone interested in having one. Just leave your email address in the comments if so.

I'm watching The Mists of Avalon right now and it's okay. I like certain elements more than others. It is definitely different than the original Camelot tales like First Knight. I do have to say that the faux English accents are horrible at times lol. I'm such a period piece whore.

Big Brother was good last night and I'm pretty happy with George's nominations. I hope that James leaves on Sunday. If he gets the veto, all hell is going to break loose :S Then again, Boogie might use the coup d'etat on him, but I'm having my doubts since Will was willing to throw James under the bus when Janelle was HOH...

Not much else going on. I'm going out for dinner tomorrow, but other than that my weekend is dull. I hope everyone else has a good one!

Another totally random and possibly useless entry, but LOOK at what they are releasing on dvd!!

I used to love this show so much when I was in like grade 9 and waited every Friday night for it to come on. When Fox cancelled it, I wanted to murder someone because I had such a huge crush on Heath Ledger (pre his movie days!) and I didn't know how I would get my Heath fix. I used to have some episodes of this show taped on VHS, but I have no idea what happened to them.

This is so going to be bought, or, better yet, if anyone loves me, my birthday is coming up on September 5th and this would be an awesome gift :D

PS: Oy, they are FINALLY releasing Melrose Place on dvd the same day as Beverly Hills 90210. I'm sure this will make many a Spelling fan happy :)

I posted some icons over at [info]blushicons of the TV show Bones, actresses Kate Beckinsale and Romola Garai, and the movies Lady Jane and Step Up. You can find them here.

Not much else going on. I'm bored, very bored. I've been watching some X-Files episodes and I'm going to continue with Roswell even though Brooke is gone white water rafting.

[info]tachisme should come down and visit me and we could go do stuff. Hmmm maybe I should go have a nap and quit moping. Don't mind the random pointless entry. You can now return to your regularly scheduled programming.

I should be reading The Beekeeper's Apprentice by Laurie King, but I'm being lazy. It's harder to read books when you are forced to for school I find. LOL This coming from an English major ;)

Meme stolen from [info]pathstotread

1. Are you named after anyone? If so, explain.
My full name (Alida) and the short form of my name (Alie), plus my middle name (Johanna) are all from other people. Alida was my great-grandmother's name, as well as my aunt's. Same goes for Alie. My middle name is also my cousin's first name, but I'm not totally sure I'm named after her per se. Maybe my parents just liked the name? I never really asked.

2. Do you have your children's names picked out already?
I don't want children personally, but I still love names :) I really love the name Adelaide (Addie for short) as well as Ophelia and Meredith. Boys names I've always liked: Tristan, Brendan, Daniel

3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been?
I'm not sure honestly... I've never asked. Another good one for the parental units ;)

4. If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why?
I love Adelaide honestly. I think I would go with that. Adelaide Ophelia :)

5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do w/ your name constantly?
LOL Um yes... It's hard to write out pronunciations, but here we go:

For Alida I've gotten: Ah-lee-da (sounds nasty to me). It's A-lee-da, if that makes sense.

For Alie: Ah-lee (again sounds nasty). People have also love to call me Alie-Baba, Alie-Cat, Alie McBeal :S I never even LIKED that show.

In other news, I've been doing some Archives homework, so that's good. We have to build a finding aid for the fonds/collection we were given. Basically it's just a logical way of helping people find the items in the collection.

Well I'm getting some things done, finally. This is what I have done this weekend so far:

- finished my Archives paper (well I need to edit still)
- finished my part of a group Special Libraries project
- finished my Managing Internet Information activity on virtual reference
- almost am finished my Da Vinci Code powerpoint for my seminar

*sigh* I have been so uber busy. I did managed to go out a couple times this weekend though. I went with Brooke to Walmart, big whoop, but it's still out. I didn't buy anything, though I did pick up Casanova on DVD at Blockbuster. I had credit left on my membership because I had traded in dvds I didn't want anymore.

Last night I saw The Hills Have Eyes and Wimbeldon with Brooke. The first, not so good. Really gory, but I expected that. The plot was dumb and reminded me slightly of Wrong Turn, which I didn't like that much either. The second, considerably better. I'm surprised I never saw it before this, but I liked it. Kirsten Dunst didn't even annoy the crap out of me in it! Shocking I know.

As for Big Brother, I'm quite pleased that my season sixers are still HOH. I'm still kinda iffy on James' nominations though. I mean Chicken George?! Unless he's using him as a pawn to get Will out of the house, perhaps the dumbest move of the season yet. I think season six could totally get Erika on their side if Kaysar played up the sex appeal a bit lol. I know if I was Erika, I'd be following him around like a puppy ;)

Ruler of the World Meme )

It's kinda eerie again how right that thing is. I totally would have cats as my symbol, I love cats :) Also, I love soda lol. Or as we call it up here in Canada, pop. Pajama day? I'm there. I sit around in my PJs most days anyway hehe.

So I got hosted over at e-fans.net for my Ephramy website, but does anyone know how to use FTP when they only give you:

Username
Password
Domain Name
Control Panel Login

Also, does anyone know what they mean when they ask me in the email to:

If you are a domain hostee and registered your domain yourself, please update the DNS (nameservers) at your domain registrar to the following:
ns1.e-fans.net
ns2.e-fans.net

Is this only if I have my own personal domain?

One final question and I will love you forever if you can find me a good tutorial or will guide me through this yourself: Does anyone know how to move a Coppermine Gallery from one host to another? :S I'm a bit puzzled.

Thanks so much to those who can help and to [info]cj_same for showing me e-fans.net :)

(I'm still kinda hoping I get hosted by fan-sites.org since they have FTP I understand)...

Essay is done, editing and all :D Go me! It wasn't that hard to write, but that last 5 pages was killer at times...

I was also wondering if anyone had free hosting open at one of their domains? I've applied with my Ephram/Amy website over at fan-sites.org, but I'm not guaranteed to be hosted so I thought I would drop a line here. If anyone could offer me hosting, I'd be really grateful. Apparently my site takes 900mb of space, which is probably due to videos, etc. I can tone down those if that is a requirement or if it is not allowed on your server. Thanks again to [info]cookie for hosting me for so long. I can't thank you enough! <3

I'm going to wait a few days to see if I hear anything back from Gertie/fan-sites.org. If anyone knows of any hosting domains, please feel free to comment! Thanks!

Hmm I should go to bed. Tomorrow is a long day with 6 hours of class and some volunteering in the morning.

QuizGalaxy!
'What will your obituary say?' at QuizGalaxy.com

I had to post that because that basically describes my LIFE (mainly the cat stuff though, I'm not too huge on gluttony, though I think everyone is now and then). Right, [info]tachisme? ;)

Other news, I'm almost done my essays. 5 more pages to go, whee! I think it's going fairly well, but we'll see what I think when I edit it later.

Blah, I must go on the treadmill later. I have been SO incredibly lazy about that lately. Although, I have been busy so I guess that's an excuse.

I saw The Devil Wears Prada last night with [info]tachisme (sort of right?). I liked it. Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep were great, as usual. I really liked the unkempt cuteness of Adrian Grenier. It reminded me of him in Drive Me Crazy (the only reason I watched that movie). Everyone should go see it :) It's good times.

All right, I'm back to the essay after I check out a few LJ comms I love. Have a good day everyone!

ETA: Why is my mood, etc. at the TOP of my post? That's bizarro.

I have a big essay due this week and I haven't done all that much on it as of yet. I have all the research done and have my thesis all laid out, but I just have to write it now. It's tough working up the energy though...

I went and got my hair cut and my eyebrows waxed yesterday. My hair was getting really thick, not to mention my eyebrows lol. My hair is nice and short again, which is nice for summer time. After I had my hair done I did some shopping (since the salon is in the mall anyway). I went to the Gap and got a pair of jeans on sale for $20. I love sales :) I need more summer tops though and I should refrain from more pants... Oh well.

After shopping, my dad and I went and saw Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. I spent a small fortune on popcorn, a drink and a candy combo, but I felt like popcorn and hadn't had any at the movies in a long time. The movie was good, I won't spoil anyone though. It did run a bit slow in the middle and my dad thinks they could have cut out a half an hour. Johnny Depp was fabulous as always and Orlando Bloom didn't annoy me that much. Mr. Collins from Pride & Prejudice 2005 was in it lol, as [info]lepapillon stated before I did :) Good times seeing him back with Keira again.

Anyway, I should get back to my essay, blah. I hope everyone has a good weekend. It's a scorcher here!

PS: My 2 new library jobs went really well :) I've been helping out with the summer reading programs and doing some shelving. Nothing huge, but I like it.

Bwah! *sob* I can't BELIEVE that game between Holland and Portugal! The referee was a major asshole and gave out like 3 red cards and lots of yellows too. The faking of injuries on the Portugese side was disgusting and the time wasting was too. I'm sooooo sad now and my dad is unhappy as well. This is horrible. My dad was using EVERY Dutch swear word in the entire language I think at the referee and various players. I really think the Dutch could have won if the referee had been different and if van Basten had put our beloved van Nistelrooy in :( *sob*

Anyway, I'm sorry to rant like that but I need to get the sadness out :(

I'm busy working on my HR presentation for Wednesday, it's coming along okay. I'm sick of it already though and nervous that it won't be good. I suck at presentations so much. It's on career planning/development so that's not overly exciting and maybe the other people will fall asleep and I'll feel better lol.

So hungry right now, I couldn't eat during the match because it was so nerve racking. I think I'm going to scrounge something up now though.

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your live journal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

1. Panic! At The Disco - I Write Sins Not Tragedies
2. Plumb - Blush (Only You)
3. Christina Aguilera - Ain't No Other Man (sad I know lol)
4. Dixie Chicks - Not Ready To Make Nice
5. John Mayer - Waiting on the World To Change
6. Nelly Furtado - Promiscuous
7. David Bowie - Magic Dance (from The Labyrinth)

Tagging: [info]tachisme, [info]kyleschick, [info]nordmaedchen, [info]tyger_fied, [info]blue_bear74, [info]ingenu0us, and [info]lepapillon :)

Well, I am thankfully done that hellish assignment. That took so long to do, seriously. I don't have much else due this week, just a little mini assignment for tomorrow afternoon. I have a presentation next week though, which sucks. It's not even a great topic, though nothing in HR could be if you ask me. I find everything in HR to be so common sense. My professor seems easy to please though, so that's one bonus.

Holland is playing tomorrow (today technically but I haven't been to bed yet). Pray for them to win, k? ;) Thanks! My parents are going to Holland this summer and they're really looking forward to it and their side trip to Paris. I'm glad that my dad is excited to go, he doesn't get back that often really. Plus, the World Cup makes him happy the same way.

I've been watching a lot of random TV lately. I downloaded 8 episodes of season 1 of the X-Files and I'm on episode 3 of Popular. I never saw Popular when it was on, but it's not that bad of a show. It has it's really frivilous moments, but I really do remember being that way in high school and so consumed by things that are unimportant now. Plus, the one guy on the show was on Jake 2.0 and is adorable :) Plus, he's older than me and is playing a teen in this show. *shrugs*

In other news, I picked up Tristan & Isolde on dvd finally at Blockbuster's previously viewed movies. I have store credit for trading in some dvds I didn't want, so it's good to get something I do. I think I'm going to go watch it now actually ;)

PS: Don't forget to watch Big Brother on Wednesday night at 8 pm on CBS!

How exciting has the Italy vs. USA game been?! I totally agree with the ref that de Rossi deserved a red card for that elbow in McBride's eye. That was way harsh. The ref does need to crack down on the Italians use of diving, which is ridiculous. They are faking being hurt to get free kicks and yellow cards for the Americans. FIFA said they wanted to crack down on the elbowing (which they have) AND on the diving (which they haven't really). The ref needs to give the Italians a yellow card for diving and then it will be over with. *sigh* Great game though!

I'm working on my Special Libraries paper on collection and services, but it's so hard to find any sources on theatre or drama festivals or anything of the like. Oy vey. I hope I can find enough to make it through the paper ... I can't say that I'm overly enjoying this course. It's different than I expected, but then again, so was Academic Libraries.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far. It's really warm here (over 30 degrees I believe) so I'm indoors. I guess that's obvious since I have to work on this paper though. My mom went to Port Huron, which is near the Canadian/American border to do a little American shopping with the Canadian dollar doing so well. She's going to get me some t-shirts since I've lost some weight and my t-shirts from last summer are loose.

Father's day is tomorrow and I got my dad some Heineken and a Grolsch beer. It's what he wanted, plus he's so hard to buy for! It's like pulling teeth. He doesn't use a wallet really, just something for his credit cards, etc. so that was out. He's fussy about clothes so that was out. Hence, the beer lol. I think it's a good combo with the World Cup, non?

Finally, [info]octoberagain I hope you have a happy birthday! :)

ETA: My mom came home and she brought me THIS! *is very excited* PS: I totally love him and would have his babies if I wanted children ;)

Please vote for me (#9) in this challenge :) I'd really appreciate it! I hate to pimp myself, but I never win past 3rd place usually :S

Anywho, now that that is over, I can actually post something. I've been FREE all weekend since I have no assignments due this week. Technically I probably should be working ahead, but I'm not. I don't care lol. I want a free weekend where I can watch dvds and sit at the computer and go shopping and NOT feel guilty.

Speaking of shopping, I went yesterday with Brooke and got a new pair of snazzy jeans at the Gap for $29.99 and a great brownish tank top at Ricki's for $10. It's really pretty with embroidery at the front. Brooke managed to find amazing jeans with embroidered flowers on the leg and butt for only $20, down from $128. I was uber jealous! Too bad they were a size too small for me.

After shopping we went to Pizza Hut for dinner (yum) and then came back to my house and watched Se7en, which she had shockingly not seen. Great movie still after all these years. I'd love to buy it, but the only version I've seen is the non-special edition of it and it doesn't have any special features. Not worth it really.

Holland won their World Cup match today! :) My dad was very happy and hence the whole household was. There is World Cup fever going around baby, right [info]nordmaedchen? :)

I hope everyone else had a great weekend!

PS: Can Big Brother start soon enough for anyone but me?
